How About Some History!

Elijah Woodworth first settled Leslie, MIchigan in 1836, and built the first log cabin here. For a time, the town was known as Meekersville. Settlers arrived by way of the Erie Canal or overaland from Ohio and had to make a difficult crossing of the Grand River as there was just one floating bridge. Through the years the town grew as the railroad came in, the old depot is still there.

The mineral baths that were the rage at the turn of the century in the early 1900s are also why folks chose to settle here.

So if you are looking for a friendly town with lots of history and turn-of-the-century architecture, take a day trip or make that move to Leslie, Michiganh. Here you will find a walk-able town with everything close at hand including a downtown park, community pool, ball fields, pavillions, tennis and basketball courts, independent stores, specialty shops, and great restaurants.
